It still doesn’t feel real. KU played their worst half of basketball in the entire tournament in the National Championship game, and then clawed their way back for a comeback for the books, man.
If you're not behaving slightly pschotically for the NC match then what are you even doing.
My fiancé went to lay down at half time after being slightly put off by my behavior, and when the comeback started rolling I made it known she wasn't allowed back out.
She poked her head out with a few seconds left to come celebrate, only for Juan to step out of bounds on the inbound in that exact moment and be met with a yell of "BACK IN THE ROOM!".
C - you just mic dropped on this thing. First off... I was a hater and I will gladly eat crow for the rest of my life (as a national champ mind you). My one shitty excuse... I just didn't see Remy doing what he did. YOU did. But shit man, this team, THIS team! This team? won a title!!! That just happened? I cannot think about anything else and haven't since getting back from Nola. I have watched the game 10 times and it still doesn't seem real. Second... I owe you a beer, actually several beers, you hit me off in a time of great need. I can't believe we didn't get to knock them back together (I was at the bar!!)
The experience of you and our crew dovetailed mine closely. Learned some lessons about so-called fans that I can't share here to protect the non-innocent. I will learn and grow from that when we are back in the FF soon. Always learning...
I will remember a lot from this season. I will love a lot about this season. But I think I will remember and love Big Dave the most. Not to get corny and cliche and this is not an original take... but he never complained, never stopped working, he just never stopped moving forward in the face of a bunch of negativity...and in the end he was the best player in the FF.He WON us the game. Those two buckets are forever etched in our history. He absolutely should have been MOP. I really hope Self does the right thing here and as you said: DAVE RAFTERS.
I have so many more thoughts... I'm just so thankful for this coach, this program, this team. I think once we get this NCAA shit over with, watch out. Self has to be reborn by this experience.
LOL Swade, sorry we didn't get to connect longer but we saw each other at the perfect moment. There were 4-5 people I was in constant contact with before NOLA, planning meet-ups and so forth, and I never saw them even for a second, so at least we did better than that. Really glad the Miller Lite drop came when it did. RC Swade thanks so much for all this season's chatter and comments!
